Zee’s career has been defined by entrepreneurship, financial leadership, and a lifelong passion for animals. From helping build a successful business in the pet industry to embracing retirement on her horse farm in Southern Indiana, her story reflects resilience, dedication, and a love of hard work.
Zee grew up on the west coast of the US and moved to Indiana before high school. While still in high school she began bookkeeping for a distributor that worked in the pet industry.
She continued with the company until her early 20’s. At that point she divorced her high school sweetheart and met her new husband, who had started building aquariums on the side, in his basement. They married and she helped him to build the company into a significant contributor in the pet industry. Zee and her sister did all the practical running of the office such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial planning, and the like.
Today, she would have the title of CFO, but that term was not in the popular lexicon at the time, especially for women. When Zee retired she moved to Southern Indiana and revisited her love of horses. She and her herd of 6 enjoy their days in the rolling hills of Southern Indiana.
